Rainy Day Ice Cream
1 c. milk
1 c. whipping cream
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
Put all ingredients into a small (1 pound) coffee can. Cover with plastic lid.
Place this can inside a larger (3 pound) can. Pack around smaller can with
crushed ice and pour 1 cup rock salt evenly over ice. Have kids roll the can
back and forth for about 10 minutes. Now open large can. Remove inner can.
Remove lid and stir up ingredients with a rubber spatula. Drain water from large
can. Replace covered small can inside. Pack with more ice and rock salt. Have
kids roll can back and forth about 6 minutes. Open can and enjoy 3 cups of ice
cream.
