Bonnie Butter Cake
with French Silk Frosting
2/3 C. butter or margarine, softened......2-3/4 C. flour*
1-3/4 C. sugar.....................................2-1/2 t. baking powder
2 eggs.................................................1 t. salt
1-1/2 t. vanilla.....................................1-1/4 C. milk
French Silk Frosting (recipe follows)
Ina large mixer bowl, mix butter, sugar, eggs & vanilla till fluffy. Beat 5 minutes on high speed, scraping occasionally. On low speed mix in dry ingredients alternately with milk. Pour batter into 3 greased & floured 8" round pans, or a greased & floured 13x9x2" pan. Bake at 350° for 30-35 minutes (rounds) or 45-50 minutes (sheet), or until pick inserted near center comes out clean. Cool in pan(s) on wire rack for 10 minutes, remove to rack to cool completely. Frost with French Silk Frosting.
(*If using self-rising flour, omit baking powder & salt)
French Silk Frosting
2-2/3 C. powdered sugar...................3/4 t. vanilla
2/3 C. softened butter........................2 T. milk
2 ounces unsweetened chocolate, melted & cooled.
In a small mixer bowl, blend sugar, butter, chocolate & vanilla on low speed. Slowly add milk; beat until smooth.
