Cheesy Double Chocolate Chip Cookies
Inspired by chocolate cheesecake- these cookies taste even better the second day when the cheese has mellowed & the flavors have blended nicely.


3-1/2 C. flour.........................................1 C. granulated sugar

1/2 C. unsweetened cocoa.....................1 C. brown sugar, firmly packed

1-1/2 t. baking soda...............................3 extra large eggs

1/2 t. salt...............................................2 t. vanilla extract

1 C. shortening......................................12 oz. semisweet chocolate chips

1-8 oz. pkg. cream cheese, softened......1 C. pecan pieces

Sift flour before measuring, then resift with cocoa, baking soda & salt; set aside.

Cream together shortening, cream cheese, & sugars. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add vanilla & mix well. Add sifted dry ingredients, blend well. Stir in chocolate chips & nuts.

Drop by teaspoonfuls onto baking sheets lined with parchment paper. Bake at 350 degree for 10 to 12 minutes. Do not overbake. Yield: 3 to 4 dozen
