Cemetery Cake
3 c. flour
2 c. sugar
6 Tbsp. cocoa
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
2 tsp. vanilla extract
2/3 c. vegetable oil
2 Tbsp. vinegar
2 c. cold water
Beat all ingredients together until smooth. Pour into ungreased 9 x 13-inch
baking pan and bake in preheated oven 350 degrees 30 minutes. Sometimes called
Funeral Cake. The custom was to use this recipe because it was fast to stir up
at a moments notice and was simple to carry to family or friends.
