January Thaw Candy
2 c. sugar
1/2 c. white syrup
1 Tbsp. butter or oleo
1 c. chopped nuts
1 c. cream
1/4 tsp. soda
1 tsp. vanilla
Mix sugar, cream, syrup and soda in a large pan. Stir constantly until sugar
dissolves. Bring to a boil; continue stirring until reaches soft ball stage (234
degrees to 240 degrees). Remove from heat; add vanilla and butter. Beat with
electric mixer until it loses shine and will hold shape when dropped on waxed
paper. Stir in nuts and drop by teaspoons on waxed paper. Cool and eat. Very
good!!
