Mom's Buttermilk Biscuits
4 c. flour
2 tsp. salt
3 Tbsp. baking powder
2 c. (scant) buttermilk
2/3 c. Crisco
Measure flour, salt, baking powder and Crisco into mixing bowl. Cut in
shortening until it looks like cornmeal. Make a well; pour in buttermilk. Mix
with fork until it forms
a ball. It should be sticky. Turn out on a floured surface and knead 10 to 12
times only. (Do not overwork dough.) Roll or press out by hand. Cut your
favorite size biscuit. (Mom
made big ones.) Lay on ungreased cookie sheet sides touching.
Bake in hot preheated oven at 425 degrees for 20 minutes.
