Fresh Orange Cookies

1-1/2 C. sugar...............................1 t. baking soda

1 C. butter, softened......................1 t. baking powder

1 C. sour cream.............................1/2 t. salt

2 eggs...........................................2/3 C. orange juice

4 C. flour.......................................3 T. grated orange peel

Beat sugar & butter till fluffy. Add sour cream & eggs, beat well. Add sifted dry ingredients, orange juice & peel; mix well. Drop by rounded teaspoons on an ungreased sheet. Bake at 375° for 8 to 11 minutes. Remove from sheets to a wire rack immediately, frost while warm.

Frosting:

1/2 C. butter, melted

4 C. powdered sugar

2 T. grated orange peel

4-6 T. orange juice

Combine above ingredients till smooth, spread on warm cookies. Yield: 6 dozen cookies

Tracy's note: It will take 3 oranges for the grated orange peel. I used the oranges for the juice, also.
