That's just not nice.

OH, BOY- Was this a FUN cake for me to do!! I looove Halloween, and I have a young neighbor with an October birthday. Some may remember his 3rd birthday cake...the skull? Well, this year, I got to do a graveyard. Details:

The tree (my favorite part!):

I piped the tree on a pretzel rod with melted chocolate. When it had set, I flipped it over & laid a royal icing moon in the branches, the piped the trunk & branches again on the back. This suspended the moon in the branches. I left some pretzel rod bare on the bottom to stick into the cake. I also made the bottom of the trunk wider & flared to add more support. When I put it in the cake, I piped some melted chocolate into the hole before inserting the pretzel. It stood!

The Graveyard:

I baked sugar cookies in the shape of tombstones & did the names & details in melted chocolate. The ghosts are also chocolate, piped out onto waxed paper. I made the grave dirt with crushed oreos & graham crackers. I also 'glued' bat icing decs together back-to-back on thin wires, so they would 'fly' above the cake.
