Rocky Road Brownies


1/2 C. butter or margarine.......................1/4 C. butternilk

1/2 C. unsweetened cocoa.......................1 t. vanilla

1 C. sugar................................................1 C. mini-marshmallows

1 egg........................................................1 C. coarsely chopped walnuts

1/2 C. flour..............................................1 C. (6oz.)  semisweet chocolate chips

Combine butter & cocoa in a medium sized heavy saucepan over low heat, stirring constantly until smooth. Remove from heat; stir in sugar, egg, flour, buttermilk & vanilla. Mix until smooth. Spread batter evenly into a lightly greased 8" square pan. Bake at 350° for 25 minutes, or until center feels dry (do not overbake). remove from oven; sprinkle marshmallows, nuts, and chocolate chips over the top. return to oven for 3 to 5 minutes, or just long until topping is warmed enough   to meld together. Cool in pan on wire rack. Cut into 2" squares. Yield: 16 brownies
